Construction concrete pavement drainage

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In the context of the calls for the urban renewal and the safety of metropolitan cities and municipalities in the capital, the Municipality of Perugia, he developed the project for the security and development in the districts of Fontivegge, and Bellocchio. In particular, for the urban area of the city park “ Della Pescaia” was developed a project for the construction of a concrete pavement drainage along all of the avenues of the park.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TECHNICAL PROBLEM AND OF THE STATE OF THE

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

The essential requirements of the entire project were the following:

  • Walkable floor in concrete
  • Concrete pavement with a drainage capacity of at least 400 litres/m2/hour

  • Maintaining the workability of the concrete mixture of at least 2.5 hours (considering the time of transport and commissioning)
  • Durability, and reliability of the solution.
SOLUTION SIKA

The proposed solution from Sika, starting from the consolidated system SikaDrain, it was a taylor-made solution in view of the particularity and specificity of the work to be carried out.

THE DESIGN OF THE CONCRETE MIXTURE

The first phase consisted in the design of the concrete mixture used:

  • Careful selection of the type of aggregate: crushed stone 6,3/12,5 (produced by GMP spa)
  • Composition particle size was specifically designed to ensure that the index is empty (25-28%) need to have a high draining effect
  • Low water/cement ratio
  • Cement content 310 kg/m3
  • Additive superfluidificante/retardant Compactceret 39 T40, at the rate of 0.35% in volume on the weight of the binder
  • Additive retardant powder Addiment VZ 53P, in the amount of 1 kg m3 to ensure, with high temperatures > 35°C, a retention of workability in line with the works in the be
  • Structural fibers SikaFiber® PF-55, at the rate of 0.30 kg/m3
  • Specific additive to improve the adhesion and cohesion of the concrete, Sika® Drain To the extent of 5 litres/m3
  • Drainage capacity of the concrete is measured (ACI Method) 600 litres/m2/h.
